HI-POD stays dry at Phoenix , AZ REACH 11 Complex

The US Soccer Winter Showcase concluded last week in Phoenix, AZ at the Reach 11 Complex. Once again HI-POD was contracted to shoot all games, deliver goal highlights, fulfill standard def and high Def DVD requests and stream the games on the internet. All 241 games were recorded successfully.

But mother nature put HI-POD to the test on Monday. Stiff winds, freezing cold, and driving rains did not make the job easy. Sure enough all scheduled games were successfully recorded and processed. Gusts of 50 miles per hour , constant rain all day, and steadily dropping temperatures pushed the HI-POD crew to the limit.

HI-POD gets wet with Water Polo

Another sport to find the HI-POD interesting is Water Polo. HI-POD operator Nick Baba is using the HI-POD to shoot all the CIF Water Polo playoffs and break down the games with match analysis software.

HI-POD Prepares for Army of operators in Phoenix

HI-POD has arrived in Phoenix with an abundance of units to train operators for the upcoming US Soccer Winter showcase. With as many as 30 units ready to train operators, the HI-POD Van moved into town like a military operation.

"If we use two units to train 30 guys, the process would lack the hands-on that makes for quicker learning" stated HI-POD President Enrique Morales, "and would lengthen the training period considerably. Continued Morales, "In this way we are able to maximize training retention as well as cost per training session."

The goal of the training was twofold: train operators for the upcoming job (US Soccer ) , but also certify operators in the use of hi-pod for not only soccer but for the other popular sports that occur in other parts of the year. We are preparing operators to become future freelance hi-pod franchisees.

HI-POD shot for St. Thomas Acquinas HS at the Kirk Herbstreit event at Ohio State University. Using the 17 ft mobile unit, we were able to move at will around the field to cover the game from the most optimal position. If the action was at the 50 yard line, we were able to cover from the 50 yard line (17 feet in the air- behind the players and in front of the track). If the action was in the redzone, we were able to quickly cover the action from the endzone. If the action was from the other redzone, we could easily move to the other endzone.

The MOBILE 17ft HI-POD not only turned heads at this first pre-season game at THE BENJAMIN SCHOOL in Palm Beach Gardens,, FL but was also useful as a referee tool as well. Dade Christian's Extra point conversion kick versus Benjamin was called no good, when in actuality it was good. The HI-POD operator called the main referee to review the play. The referee delayed the game to review the play and concluded that the kick was actually good. Unfortunately the score remained incorrect due to the fact that another play had occurred prior to the review.

HI-POD entertains entire Wellington Community HS Football team

Directly after practice the Wellington Community HS Football staff and players wanted to take a look at the footage captured by the mobile HI-POD. All gathered around to analyze every play being displayed on the HI-POD Tournament Van Hi-Def screen. The practice field was not the easiest to reach; this made the mobile HI-POD even more valuable. Not only was the 17 foot mobile HI-POD able to quickly get to the field, but it was able to reposition to any spot on the field, according to the viewing demands of the coaches. This same unit can easily convert to the 31 foot endzone camera.

HI-POD continues to introduce the HI-POD 31ft endzone camera and the 17 ft mobile huddle camera to all the football programs in southern Florida. Today the mobile HI-POD was used during full practice at Stranahan High School. Immediately after the practice all the coaches visited the HI-POD Tournament Van to study the footage shot from the mobile 17 ft HI-POD. According to the coaches "The fact that it can so easily move anywhere on the practice field and get behind the offense is a strong selling point. Also that it can convert back to the 31 ft unit for games is very compelling."

In a warm up for next week season opener, the new franchise team for the WSL- the SOL- played the Real SoCAL boys premier team at the Home Depot Center. This was the first chance people had to see Brazil's Marta. The 3 time World's Best Female Player did not disappoint.
Because the practice game was played on a practice field and not inside the stadium, the only effective way to capture training footage of the match was with the HI-POD Core X4. Positioned on the half-line, the HI-POD captured footage from 31 feet- simulating stadium-like footage, without a stadium.

#1 Ranked St. Thomas Acquinas picks HI-POD

This past year (2008) Saint Thomas Aquinas HS Football program won the national championship title and ended up as the number one ranked team in the country. St. Thomas head coach, George Smith and staff went looking for an Endzone Camera system at this year's American Football Coaches Convention. They settled on the HI-POD Core X4 system.

In addition to the 31 foot quadpod system, they liked the ability to convert to the mobile "line of Scrimmage" or "Huddle Camera" solution with a simple allen key. The mobile allows them the greatest flexibility, by giving the operator the ability to move at the end of every play, while still elevated. Now during practice we can get elevated shots of the different squads wherever they may be on the field.

In addition to the Camera products, the Saint Thomas Football team acquired the HI-PODCASTER. This streaming game server can be set up as a pay-per-view system that allows the team and school to generate revenue from people watching on the internet and even on their cell phones.

Reknown quarterback coach Steve Clarkson of Debartolo Sports University invited Joe Montana to speak to the newest class of young quarterbacks. But the real guest performer was the HI-POD Core X4. Capturing from the endzone was a great asset to the Debartolo team, but the new mobile on-field functions of the Core X4 is what captured the attention of Steve Clarkson and team. The Core X4 can be easily converted to the 16 foot mobile "huddle camera" for practice. Simulating the NFL skycam, the Core X4 is a 2 in 1 system.
